Imagine reaching a point where new buildings or tech replaces less efficient tech, so that the CPU load can be re-distributed to focus on less on the macro, and more on the overall society. Most of us know that the game gets basically unplayable at 1K+, if not before that. I think an expansion that switched the way the whole game is processed at around 1000 people would be awesome, but probably not really feasible. I think most of the joy of this game is the idea of isolation(banishment) and the idea that you can easily set up trading ports to balance your whole supply chain instead of providing for yourself is a real let down, but its necessary, because mines and quarries run out, so soon your map will be full of ugly mines and quarries instead of your quaint town, if your going for balanced sustainability.Īnother late-game deal-breaker is the speed. There have been tons of threads with suggestions to fix some of these, but my contribution is to make mines and quarries endless. The first part of the game runs smoothly, is a ton of fun, then it gets monotonous, there's not a huge building selection, there's small annoyances in the programming, and some overall design decisions that could have been reconsidered. I was first determined to get to 1000 just for the heck of it, but it literally would have taken weeks of constant running, with minimal check in and adjustment. I got all but a couple achievements that i didn't really care about, my latest city was 1.5K people(a lot), it was self sustaining and running so smoothly(and slowly) that i could go to bed, leave it overnight, and around 30 games years had passed with everyone healthy and happy. I struggled, I failed, I failed some more, but then all the sudden, I was done. ![]() I think i put in about a hundred hours on it in two weeks. I really really REALLLY enjoyed banished.
